Stanningley Albion U11 Girls had a brilliant day at the Garforth Rangers Gala, proudly entering two teams into the tournament - a first for the girls, who usually play as one strong squad. Splitting into two smaller teams gave everyone plenty of game time and the opportunity to rise to the challenge - and rise they did!
Both teams represented the club with passion, teamwork, and a fantastic attitude. Drawn into the same group, they had the unique challenge of facing each other as well as strong opposition. One team narrowly missed out on progressing, despite putting in some competitive performances and showing great determination throughout. Their effort, spirit, and support for one another never wavered - they kept smiling, kept fighting, and made the club proud every step of the way.
The second team went on a brilliant run, progressing all the way to the final with some thrilling matches along the way. Their journey was filled with great passing, solid defending, and some spectacular goals. They narrowly missed out on taking home the trophy, but their place in the final was a well-earned reward for their hard work and team play.
Most importantly, every single player contributed to what was a fantastic day of football. Whether it was winning tackles, making crucial saves, or simply encouraging their teammates, the girls showed exactly what it means to be part of Stanningley Albion.
A huge thank you to the coaches for guiding both teams so brilliantly, and to the parents and supporters who cheered them on with pride.
Well done, girls - you played with heart, and you did the club proud!
