The Reds faced Ossett Town for the first time in their history and were looking to make it 5 from 5 in the league this year. The opening exchanges showed that this was going to be a test for the reds as Osset also passed the ball well and look to play football. The chances were few and far between in the first half, but it was the reds who opened the scoring. Some good tricky play from Luke led the defender to trip and push him in the area penalty to the reds. The Captain took responsibility and smashed the ball into the side netting to make it one nil. To reds should have extended their lead before half time as both Ben and Kayle squandered excellent chances. half time 1-0.

Again the second half was much the same, the reds were creating chances and the visitors were hitting us on the break with little penetration. The reds defense were also having a great game today. More good chances for the reds following and more chances squandered with Kayle, Owen and others again missing good chances. The keeper for osset does deserve a mention as he was excellent throughout. Late on the Reds had a corner looking to extend their lead, where most teams would be playing it into corners, the cross came in and the keeper claimed the ball. A quick distribution up the field led to the defence to make a decision, try and cut the ball out or let it bounce and then defend, they chose the first but got it wrong and this left the striker to run through on goal, the covering defender came across but at this stage it was 3 on 1, the striker played the ball through and there was a chorus of offside shouts, had the player strayed past the last man? the referee played on as it wasnt clear and the visiting player took his chance well. The reds rallied in true reds fashion but there were no more goals today. The final whistle went and the reds were deflated, they had only drew but it was like a defeat. The story of the day was the story of the season, great football played but wasteful and punished by an individual error. The game should have been put to bed long before this and i know people will point at the defence for the goal but the strikers and midfielders need to step up and realise if they had taken their chances this would have been 3 points today. I cant fault the football boys but we have to start putting the ball into the net. I know we have scored 52 goals in 14 games but this number could easily be doubled with the amount of chances created and quality of players.
