Reds back with a Bang

Reds back with a Bang

steve talbot8 Jan 2012 - 14:50

Notoroiously slow starters after christmas, the reds returned today with an emphatitic 10 nil win.

Over the Christmas period the Reds lost 3 players from their squad, their two most capped players Joe (268 6 goals) and Steve Benn (265, 105 goals) and Striker Kyle (39 goals in 75 apps) who made the transfer to Bramley. We wish them all the best.

The reds went for a rare away game at Garforth, looking to start the new year with a bang and kick on looing to secure the title. The reds started a little slowly today but created chances galore, Reece was causing problems down the wing and it looked like the reds were going to start the new year as wasteful as they ended it. The first goal came when good work down the right, Reece put in a great cross and Luke S had come in off the wing, got in front of the defender and headed home the opening goal of 2012. Soon after more good work down the from reece and owen, owen fired the ball across and ben P got a touch to squeeze the ball through the keepers legs for the second of the day and the 1200th goal for the reds. The third goal of the half game from good build up play, the ball was then layed off to Owen who fired in a cracker from 20 yards, the final goal of the half came from more good wing play, this time down the left from Luke who beat a couple of players cut into the box, fired it across goal for Oli to fire in and make the score 4-0 at half time.

When the second half kicked off the lads were challenged to keep up the good work and not rest on their first half performance. The lads rose to the challenge.

The first goal of the second half took over 10 minutes to come, and Ben P fired in a cracker from the edge of the area, the next goal came shortly after, good work from Kayle he had a shot it beat the keeper but not the bar, it came bac into play and Oli followed up to head the ball into the net for his second. Liam was moved into left wing for the second half and he responded with a neat finish from 12 yards out, Liam then became provider his good work led the ball to come free for Kayle to finally fire home his 300th goal for the club 300 goals in 263 games is quite some record at any level. the scoring wasnt finished their, some excellent team play fed in Liam who crossed for Jake to head home from 6 yards and then Liam finished the scoring with another well taken goal. final Score 10-0 Reece man of the match for his best performance in a red shirt.

The reds played some great football today well done lads. lets keep this going 8 more league games to go.
